my sister lisa with the finished product!

me trying it on

the poncho laid flat
Hi, I’m Sammy! This is my first major pattern, I made it because I couldn’t find one online! You can find me on instagram @stitch.with.sam. Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback, or send me photos of your completed poncho! 🥳
Table of Contents:
Supplies:
- yarn: i used 2 skeins black loops & threads silky soft rayon from bamboo (7 oz), 11 colors of worsted weight acrylic for polka dots
- you can choose any colors or number of colors for the polka dots, as long as you have the same total number of polka dots!
- hook: 4mm
- yarn needle, scissors, stitch markers
Difficulty Level: medium
- this pattern requires knowledge of single crochet, double crochet, chains, slip stitch, magic rings, and custom clothes sizing
- knowledge of reading charts helps, but isn’t required!
- this project takes about 10 hours (let me know how long it took you!)
Notes: read me, i’m important!
- (Polka) dots: choose as many colors as you want, as long as you have the total required number of dots!
- poncho will be worked from the top (collar) down to the bottom
- rows are worked back (bottom half) and forth (top half). they are connected as if in rounds, but not actually worked in rounds
- this will make more sense once we dive into assembling the poncho, but keep it in mind!
- sizing: this design is easy to change sizes for!
- i made a medium with an oversized fit (as pictured)
- dimensions when laid flat:
- 14 in across the top
- 43.5 in across the bottom
- 19 in tall (from top to bottom)
- i would recommend making yours a bit smaller sized on you, as it will stretch when you wash it & as you wear it! simply alter the # of starting dots and the # of rows as needed : )
- The following sizes are my recommendations / guestimations
- extra small: 8 dots in row 1, 6 rows, 78 dots total
